David Lowery
David Lowery has recently joined Merial Animal Health in the position of Director of Biotherapeutics within their Pharmaceutical Discovery & Research Group. He has previously held positions at Upjohn/Pharmacia (Head of Discovery Research), Pfizer, and Novartis. During that period, he has worked on a wide variety of Animal Health research topics, including discovery/development of novel vaccines, parasiticide research, animal genetics, and the development of new therapeutics. A particular interest has always been on the leveraging of technologies and targets developed for human health applications for the benefit of the Animal Health industry. His recent research focus has been on taking advantage of the huge body of knowledge within the human biopharmaceutical industry, and applying that towards problems in Animal Health. David is trained as molecular biologist / biochemist, and received a Ph.D. from University of Iowa in 1988.
